What to see nearby

VALF Suite is in Arcola, in a strategic position between the Gulf of Poets, the Cinque Terre and Tuscany. In just a few minutes you can reach the sea, historic villages and art cities, by car or public transport.

Getting around

Arcola has its own railway station on the Genoa–Pisa line, served by regional trains. The main hub in the area is La Spezia Centrale (about 10–15 minutes), where the Cinque Terre Express departs for all five villages, very frequently especially from March to November. For Lerici and Portovenere a car or the buses from La Spezia are convenient; in summer Portovenere and the Cinque Terre can also be reached by boat.

Cinque Terre

Cinque Terre

A UNESCO World Heritage site: the five villages (Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso) are the best way to experience the Ligurian coast. The train is recommended: from the La Spezia Centrale hub the Cinque Terre Express connects them in a few minutes. About 40 minutes by car, but parking is limited.

Portovenere

Sarzana

An elegant art town with a medieval old centre, fortresses and cultural events all year round. A few minutes from VALF Suite (about 10–15 minutes), also reachable by train.

Lunigiana

Lunigiana

The hinterland of castles, villages and nature between Liguria and Tuscany, with the Giaredo Gorges, Fosdinovo and Pontremoli. Between 20 and 40 minutes by car.

Viareggio e la Versilia

Viareggio and Versilia

Equipped beaches, an Art Nouveau promenade and Tuscan seaside life. About 45 minutes by car or by train (just over 40 minutes from La Spezia).
